Cool Promotion
My dad is a retired Fireman, LEO, and he did 35 years in the National Guard plus a couple of years in the navy during WW2. He is 88 years old now and his health is failing pretty quick.
Dad retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 from the Guard and he attends a Retired Officer's Association meeting once a month. One of the guys from the meeting called a couple of weeks ago, knowing that dad was in bad health and that he did not always show up for the meeting. He said they were going to do something special for dad and asked me to make sure he showed up.
I talked him into going last Wednesday, even though he did not feel like it, and while we were sitting there three current-duty generals, including the State Adjutant General and his assistant, showed up. The Adjutant General gave dad a promotion to CWO 5!! I'm assuming that it was honorary but I told dad he should have asked if this increased his retirement
They gave him a nice framed certificate of the order signed by the Governor. It was pretty cool!!
I met all these old guys and heard some incredible stories about dad. I would not have taken anything to not be there.*************************"It wouldn't take much for me to up and run...to another life somewhere in the sun."
