Personal Profile etiquette question
How long do you all usually leave the messages up you receive on your personal profile?
Are there some of you that don't delete them at all?
Is there a time frame that some of you wait before you delete?
I'm just wondering what the proper etiquette is, if there is even one. I'd hate to offend anyone by deleting something too soon, etc.
Thanks in advance.

I take them down after I have read them, and don't get too worried about offense.
Nobody who would comment on my profile would take such as an offense, I feel.I'm your huckleberry...

I'm wondering about this and the whole "add friends" thing.
Whats the deal with it? I haven't looked too deep, besides adding everybody who has asked.

Ok, another stupid question here...
I deleted all the messages, but what I'm left with is a something that says, "This message has been deleted by Katey."
I was kind of hoping to just get some space back on that section of the profile. How do I get rid of that message that's repeated 10x over, and does anyone see that except for me?

Why not just leave them?

With me it's an odd aversion to clutter, even on a computer screen.

Like Cidp, it's an odd aversion to clutter.
I don't mean that in a bad way - it's just the way I'm wired.
If something's been up for awhile and more are added, then there's pages and pages that I've already read - and for me, it's easier to just keep things simple to have the new ones around, read and then delete.
I love the whole feature. I think it's fantastic, but like I said, I just like to keep things simplified.

Curious if you're one of those people (like me) who has to open pages in a certain order when you're online.
For me, it's email first, and then certain websites in order.
Work is the same way. Everything has to be in a certain order. I even do the same with my money - it all has to face the same way and be in order of denomination.
Jesus, I have serious issues and I can't believe I'm even telling you all about them!

LOL I am the same with money, not so bad with opening screens in order. I also delete all read emails or PMs, which has caused me problems in the past when I had info that needed keeping.

With emails, I make special folders and put them in accordingly. I'm a pretty organized person and the folders help a great deal. Even if I wait a week or two before sorting them all out, especially with Ebay and PayPal, at least I know they're tucked away and I can go through them later.
On my old computer, I lost EVERYTHING in my Outlook Express and paid for a program to recover everything because I had a lot of important info there (work, etc.). It was money well spent, as I can still use it if I accidentally delete something that I need.

I saw the soft delete and chose that for the second page just saying I had already read the messages. I think I just removed them for the first page.
Will they eventually disappear, or will I have to bribe one of you mods to go in and fix it for me?

I take that back, there is a choice but it wont let you uncheck the "soft delete"

OK, I see those choices but was not sure others would. Should have thought to ask you with your experience.
Perhaps Reca will have an idea - it is a permission issue.
It is also possible nobody else sees those soft deleted posts except the owner of the profile and mods.
Experiment a little and see what you all see.I'm your huckleberry...

I tried the Default and the only choice I have is to soft delete.
If no one else went ahead and deleted your deleted messages I can't see them. As of now you have no messages.Originally Posted by Katey

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.
