I need to edit music....
I need a editing program for MP3s (?). I have the MP3s on disc and on my computer. I want to be able to take parts [partial pieces of a song or a "clip" of one] of various songs so I can use them in Powerpoint presentations. I have zero knowledge of that procedure.

The one I generally use for editing is Audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ It's freeware and does exactly what it should, and does it well.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

I've used Audacity before, with zero training or help.
