Having a job
Having a job and going to work everyday is good. Having a career that you can take pride and know you are helping people is good. But retirement is F**kin GREAT. Just a few minuets ago I got up from the puter and looked out my man cave window and what do I see? Two doe's one fawn and a Turkey. Life is great, don't have much money but what the hell can't afford to go any where anyway. I pray that all of you get to experience what I am.

Awww, how sweet! (As long as your next post isn't going to say that you'll also be getting a free lunch out of Bambi, her mom, and their turkey friend
) Glad you're enjoying your well-deserved retirement!

I do something everyday, not much sitting around. I have painting to do, bush hoggin, gardening, taking my wife to the doctors, cleaning the house, cooking, weed eating, cutting firewood, splitting same. Hell I don't have to go fishing. I can't afford to drive my big truck very far. Oh I spent the last two weeks in court and Monday Grand jury.

Retired 6 yrs, last job was as Narc Sgt. I now work one day a week in a pawn shop. Lots of old DTF clients come in to hock their worthless stuff (it all gets checked by the PD) Funny, they age fast and dont seem to be around very long.
Good bennies: Turned my last paycheck over for a nice Luger just out of pawn. I open-carry a Taurus 45 Millenium, or HK USP Comp 45 at work.
Funny thing, the neck hairs still "alert", the felony light still goes off. Pass the PD a few scratches for some customers with "issues". Can always tell when a fresh load of crank hits town due to the volume of junk coming in for loans. No, we dont take pawns on their children but happy to call CPS, no head-shop items, no glass ware with white residue, or gas cans with funny hoses.
I also take pictures of critters, flowers, sunrises, the ocean, and my dawg too. Enjoy life. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.-- Anonymous

Haven't experienced the retirement thingy yet. YET! It'sa coming in the next two or three years, whenever I decide that I've had enough of the politics.
I did figure out when I took some vacation time a couple of weeks ago to stay home and take care of a few "honey-do's", what the two worst days of vacation are. Around the middle of the week, when you start getting bored, and start thinking, "Oh, hell, I'm gonna put my pants on and go see what's going on at the office."
The second (and probably the worst) is on Sunday afternoon, when you start thinking, "Oh crapola, I've gotta go back to work tomorrow morning."
Retirement should be interesting.
