I started back today trying to run at "full speed". Well its like a run only slower. Lot of discomfort and stiffness. It's amazing how much stamina you lose in 41/2 months. I'll keep at it because cops don't have the luxury of quitting ever.

I know of a California HP officer that had a serious accident out in the field crushing both his legs. He now wears prosthetics and has his job back with the CHP. Though he might not be out on the road, he at least still has a job.

There was also an officer on "Cops" with a prosthetic leg who went on a foot chase and managed to catch an athletic young guy who ran from him.

That's the inspiration I need. Everytime I think I've got it bad I think of the service members who have come back with legs and feet blown off from IEDs that have been fitted with prosthetics who are running in marathons or returning to duty.

I was working a security detail in uniform at a local business and one of the female employees went outside to get something out of her car. I went outside with her and as we were walking back into the office I held the door open for her. After she went in I went to walk in behind her. Evidently my holstered weapon caught the inside push bar on the door. This resulted in the hammer on the Smith being pushed back. When the hammer released from the door and slammed back into position the weapon discharged in the holster which resulted in one perfectly good shoe being ruined. The weapon should not have gone off. Subsequent examination of the weapon has found that the internal firing pin safety block is defective( I could have told them that).
