    pull ups

    so I've been trying to get back in the swing of working out since the kiddo was born, but I'm finding it WAAAY easier to do stuff at the house rather than leave and go to the gym. I'm banging out lots of push-ups and sit ups and running my balls off (I've always been a pretty consistent runner, though), but I want to add some pull ups to my routine...problem being, I can't do any anymore. Can anyone suggest some exercises that mimic the pull up (in terms of working the same muscles) so I can build those up enough to be able to consistently hammer out a few pull ups duing my at-home workout?

    I'm restarting (for the 100th time) my workout routine, today. As a matter of fact, I am now resting between my running and my P90X workout. The P90X workout suggests to put a chair under you, then when you can't do any more pullups, use your legs and push off the chair to assist you. It really helps!

    I second this. Even if you keep doing assisted pull ups you will later go to a lat pull machine and amaze yourself.

    "Reverse" pull ups will help you , too.

    Get over the bar anyway you can, then lower yourself as slowly as you can.
