Well, we played hard, but we lost to Florida. I hope Floridal wins the National Championship. Tebow is awesome.

I would love to know why now all of the sportscasters are saying "You beat #1, you become #1". How is it that they already forgot that Oklahoma beat the mother loving crap out of the #2 team in the country but we didn't take over the #2 spot? I thought that the rankings were fair that week, and I wholeheartedly disagree that just because you beat a team, you take over their rank. Florida is good, but they have one loss TOO. Why would Texas get screwed again? I want to see OU vs. Texas in the National Championship to end all doubt. What logical argument is there against that? OU should bump up to #1, Texas #2, and Florida #3.

How did Duke do this year again? Do they still even play football? Besides, this year was a treat. I picked Bama to go all the way next year.

agreed...Florida lost to OLE MISS for crying out loud. I know they've bounced back quite nicely from that, but it's the equivelent to Texas or o.u. losing to Nebraska. A Texas/o.u. National Championship game would be awesome. Is there not a BCS rule that says 2 teams from the same conference can't meet in the big one? I thought there was, or at least there used to be.
BTW, I'm sorry that Alabama lost, Five-O. Now you have to listen to Brad talk about how he's a football scientist because he made a correct prediction (then why isn't he winning our fantasy league?).

I think after watching the games Saturday that the two beat teams in the country are Florida and Oklahoma. I think OU-UF will be a great national championship game. Oklahoma should go in as the #1 and Florida as the #2. I'd rank Texas at 3rd, (insert huge gap here) USC at 4th, Texas Tech 5th (but very close to USC), Alabama 6th, Penn State 7th, Utah 8th, Boise St. 9th, Cincinatti 10th, Ohio St. 11th, TCU 12th.
In the Texas-Oklahoma comparison, I understand the head to head argument. But the history of national championship voting has not even set a precedent for either side of that argument. Back in the later 80's/early 90's......one year Notre Dame had beaten Florida State but lost to Boston College. Florida state won the title because voters said that ND losing to BC was a worse loss than FSU losing to ND. A couple years before, Miami had beaten Notre Dame, but Miami lost to a bad team. Miami got voted the national champions because they won head to head. It all depends how people want to view things in a given year. Who is the better team this season? Oklahoma. Who won head to head? Texas. The voters will decide two thirds of this argument.
But the most important aspect of all this...........we need a playoff in Division 1 (FBS)!!!!!!!!

How is o.u. the better team when Texas settled it on the field? Not in the polls, not in the computers..between the sidelines. o.u. can claim dominanace and superiority all they want, but the fact of the matter is that Texas settled this argument in October in the Cotton Bowl 45-35. Texas proved they were the better team.

For a period of 3-4 hours, Texas was better. On one day they were better. For the season......not so much.
The Tennessee Titans lost to the New York Jets. Does that mean that this season the Jets are the better team? No, it means they were the better team on that day. USC got upset by Oregon State. Does that mean OSU is a better team? Should OSU be ranked at #5 and USC at #6? Is Ole Miss a better team than Florida? With your logic we could have Texas vs. Ole Miss in the National championship? When you rank teams, you should look at the body of work of the team and factor in everything. Not just head to head, not just "who's hot now". Totality of the circumstances.
Take the Heisman race now....... Tebow is the best player right now. But for the Season, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, and Graham Harrell are all better.
The times when head to head should be applicable is when two teams are otherwise even. When you look at the season, UT is not otherwise even with OU. OU's big blowout wins aren't examples of running up the score, they are examples of how much better they are than a lot of supposedly good teams. I thought OU was overrated until I started watching their games. When you look at common opponents, wins against the top teams, the quality of each of those wins, etc.....OU comes out ahead. OU beat the tar out of the #7 team, the #11 team, the #13 team, the #21 team twice, and lost to the #3 team by 10. UT beat the #1 team by 10, barely escaped the #13 team, beat the #21 team, and lost to the #7 team. If OU and UT play ten times, how many games does each team win? I'd say 6-4 or 7-3 OU.
BTW, I still hope that Florida beats OU. And we still need a playoff!!! Then UT would have its chance. So would Texas Tech. Remember Tech proved they were better than Texas between the sidelines... not in the polls, not in the computers.

Old enough to realize that one good season does not make a team good. Go undefeated or one loss for oh, lets say, 8 seasons (excluding 2005
) like Oklahoma and then you can say you expect perfection. College football is unique in that a legacy is hard to come by because players come and go. What you did ten years ago has no real bearing on today. When you can back it up with new players, year after year, you are good. We will see what Alabama can do next year, and I have to give it up to them for a good year this year, but I doubt they will back it up.
