Beijing Olympics
Who all is watching the Olympics?? I've honestly never been a fan, never watched, never cared. But I've been very involved recently, watching A LOT, checking the internet for results.
I've primarily been watching track and field, swimming, high dive, gymnastics, and volleyball.
I'm watching womens hurdles right now and HOLY HELL. I would look like a monkey humping a football out there, and they blow over those hurdles like nothing. WOW. I can't run half that fast on a flat surface, let alone jumping hurdles.
Michael Phelps, what a tremendous athlete. I loved watching the 4x200 relay after Alaina Bernard from France ran his mouth and the U.S. beat them by the hair on their chinny chin chin.
And who honestly believes the Chinese female gymnasts are 16?? Come on, the one girl has a tooth coming in. You can see it when she smiles.
The guy's competing on the rings in gymnastics a freaking ripped. I never imagined a gymnast would have arms like that.
I watched water polo yesterday....I really have no comment.
How about that wrestler from...Poland I think who refused his bronze medal?? What a jackass
And one final though, I just saw Susanna Kallur fall on the first hurdle and drag her face across the ground. OUCH....

They've been letting us watch at work - close captioning adds an interesting twist - and I've been watching whenever I can at home.
I've missed most of the equestrian stuff though.

I was watching table tennis online the other night. That's where it's at. Lol.

I've been watching bits and pieces of it when I can. I watched Phelps own everybody, some water polo, and other random events. It's nice to have something else on TV to watch when I do actually turn it on...

I probably watched more today than I ever have in years, although I do like the gymnastics. I did catch the men's triathalon today, and even though it was a long event, I did like it. I know one thing - it's frigging grueling. I'd probably have a freaking heart attack if I ever attempted that. The guy from Germany won it in under 2 hours. It's amazing that they are able to do the water-cycling-running for that long. I was also flipping the station between that and the women's volleyball (USA vs Italy). I saw a water polo match today, also. Talk about BORING!

Watching Synchronized Swimming online right now, would watch it live but it is on at 0300 hours. Coverage of these Olympics really blows for us on the east coast, prime time coverage is 10 pm to 1 am.

True, I probably paid more attention to some of the events online more so then watching it on television. But even the coverage that I did see I thought sucked, they cut off to another event before even getting the score, the MC was annoying. Anyway my point is the news is saying that this Olympics has had the best viewership ever, that NBC has gotten high ratings. I find that hard to believe, but then again there really is not much on television these days.

Xiphos, why do you hate them so much? They steal your girlfriend or something?

Spend as much time as you like. Bitch is driving me crazy. Besides, after she spends 15 unfulfilling minutes with you, I can usually come in and look like a downright poon commander in comparison.

Seriously though...you hate them that much? I guess I'm pretty indifferent on the subject. Take them or leave them. Just asking because I notice you've mentioned it a couple of times."If anything worthwhile comes of this tragedy, it should be the realization by every citizen that often the only thing that stands between them and losing everything they hold dear... is the man wearing a badge." -- Ronald Reagan, in the wake of the deaths of 4 CHP troopers in the Newhall Incident, 1970

I've been watching mainly the sailing, cycling and rowing
(check the medal tables for why).
Saw some of the swimming. I though the relay events where the coaches messed up by not putting the strongest squads in the heats and put the favourite nations for medals out before the final were especially funny (obviously not for the swimmers involved).
Whats with the jamican guy Bolt easing up at the end of the 100 and 200m sprints to a cynic it looks as if he is trying not to break the world record by to far so he can break it again at the world championships or a grand slam event with big money sponsors

I've just watched the mens 4x100m relay 6 of the 16 teams failed to get the baton round or were disqualified including the USA and UK, you would have though they might practice handing over the baton to each other

I've been watching a lot of it I like some of the not main stuff like the rowing, archery and stuff like that I'm not a fan of the extra inning stuff in baseball and the announcers for baseball are in a studio in NY and they suck.
I felt bad for the young girl from Cali that didn't make the next round and the reporter was talking to her and she started crying and couldn't talk and the reporter kept the mike in her face and asking her questions.

I don't "hate" them that much I just saw a couple opportunities here to bitch and moan about it. I'm usually indifferent but with all the media coverage when they're on it does irritate me. I'm a little more irritated than usual since the IOC decided to have them in a country run by communist despots who don't know the meaning of human rights. That which does not kill me, better start fucking running.

I don't get much of a chance to watch the games but I do wish they would either change the triathlon format (I'm not a fan of draft legal ITU races) or just add a long course non-draft race.
