During Katrina we had so MANY ready to eat meals the army furnished. I have to admit, some of them weren't half bad. But a few were just really really bad..............six months ago when I received my new unit, I was cleaning out my trunk and guess what I found behind the spare time...............

So is the new Governor putting plans into place that will address the problem this time rather than pointing fingers at everyone else and saying it was their fault?

When it blizzards I go for the snow cones, it works out nicely.

We have bottled water (2-4 five gallon bottles at any time) and a few 72 hour emergency kits that we found instructions for online, you know, instant soup mix, hot cocoa, granola bars, non perishable junk like that. I think we also have some other kits from Red Cross too, but I'm not sure where they are right now.
LOL, guess I should find them huh?

Chef Boyardee Ravioli.

I also have beef jerky, canned fruit, and plenty of water among other things in my emergency food section. Until Hurricane Floyd I never expected to need emergency items for anything other than a daylong snowstorm. During Floyd, although my town was simply without power for a day and without usable water for several days, a neighboring community was devastated by severe flooding. I'd only had a couple of gallons of water on hand and was one of many to go to the municipal building for water distribution.
As for Gustav, I pray that it doesn't hit LA with the intensity that the media is speculating. Chef Relief is ready and waiting, hoping they aren't needed.
