Senator John McCain's V.P. pick
It is now being reported that Senator McCain will be meeting with a list of a select few in Dayton, Ohio meeting with Senator McCain Friday night. John McCain has stated he has made his pick but he will not announce it tonight because he does not want to upstage Obama, with tonight being the last night of the DNC.
Mike Huckabee has sent out an email to his supporters advising them that he will not be attending that meeting in Ohio. Fucking McCain.

Anyway, it is being reported Mitt Romney will be flying to Dayton tomorrow to meet with McCain. By all means, it appears Mitt Romney will be the V.P pick for John McCain and I am not happy!

It could still be Tom Ridge.

If it is not Huckabee my next pick would be Romney.

I have no problem with Romney. I'd have prefered to see him in the top position!

Hmmm. The Alaskan govenor is more conservative than McCain. If this is his pick it just might be game set match. I'll be looking more into this possiblity.

Mitt Romney has been confirmed as not being the pick, along with Tim Pawlenty, and Huckabee. There is wild speculation along with facts now that McCain's selection is Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska.

Gov Palin however has repeatedly said she'd turn it down, her focus is on Alaska and her newborn with Down's Syndrome

CNN and Fox are reporting that Palin is McCain's choice.
Never heard of her.
But she is a lifetime member of the NRA.

She's relatively young and inexperienced in national politics. Biden's going to eat her alive in any debate about foreign policy.
The only way I would vote for the McCain ticket is if I thought it would help set up the VP to be the next President. I don't think Palin can pull that off. We'll see though. That which does not kill me, better start fucking running.

So Obama's 4 years as a US Senator and 8 years as a Illinois State Senator are not nearly enough experience to lead the country. Gotcha. But, if something happens to McCain while in office, Sarah Palin's 2 years as the Governor of Alaska more than qualify her to take over the reigns. Wow...John McCain's number 1 reason "Not to Vote for Obama" may have become a pretty good reason not to vote for McCain for some people.

Anyone who thinks Biden will eat Palin alive doesn't know her.
I think this was an excellent choice.
Bob, she is the only person on the platform of either party with ANY executive experience, and is the current commander of a very large military. (AKNG)
I think John is pretty sly after all.I'm your huckleberry...

Not to mention, all of the Dems who are pissed that Hillary didn't get elected may be placated with a woman VP and vote for McCain just because of that. I don't think that Biden would eat Palin alive at all. In fact, from what I can gather, she would probably eat *him* alive because she doesn't care about stepping on toes.

She's a popular figure in the Northwest, which is tough to do because she's a woman and a Republican.
I'd say this choice will help McCain in Washington, and Oregon as well.
He was already going to win Alaska and Idaho, but now Montana will follow as a sure bet.
Washington will still go for an Abomination, but the vote will be closer.
She is definately going to draw in *some* Hillary people, and it doesn't hurt that she isn't shrill and is nice looking.I'm your huckleberry...

I will respectfully disagree with you, Mac on her experience.
McCain is 72 years old today..there is a actual chance he may not make it through a 4-year term because of his age. Do you feel comfortable turning the reigns of a global superpower to a person who has almost 2 years experience governing a state of 683,000 people? I'm sure she's a nice lady and has been a fine governor, but I think the challenge of being 2nd in charge of the United States of America is a bit out of her wheelhouse at this point in her political career.
Although I will agree that it's a pretty sly move..try to hook in all the "Hillary for McCain" supporters by grabbing up a woman for VP. Seems a litttle "pandering" to me ("We'll see your black man and raise you a woman! Ha!"), but so much of political decisions these days are based on PR and not actually doing the right thing that it's hard to even bitch about that aspect of it.

Bob...even if McCain doesn't make it through his presidency, I don't think it would be much of an issue. Sure, she may not have the experience, but no one (unless they're re-elected) has the experience of running a country. Sure, they may have voted in Congress, etc, but I don't believe *any* of them, McCain included, has any idea what the job entails completely.

I am more comfortable with her than a junior one term Senator from a dirty political State, yes.
She commands one of the largest militaries in the US, and has proven executive experience. She hasn't backed down from real reform or any challenge from one of the worlds oldest good ole boy netoworks.
Unlike Mr. Obama, her family has a history of service as well.
McCain is plenty healthy, and I'm not worried about him going anywhere at any rate.
Going out on a limb, I'm going to say you were not in the service. It changes your perspective on the issues I quoted above.
My candidate is no longer running, but I will support this pair over the alternative.
Besides, she likes Harleys.
