    Interesting Hurricane Records

Here are some records of strong Atlantic hurricanes:

Strongest (most intense) hurricane based on pressure in the eye: Hurricane Wilma, 2005, at 882 millibars (mb) of mercury. For comparison, normal pressure ranges from 990 to 1015 mb.

Strongest land-falling hurricane: Labor Day hurricane, 1935, 892 mb.

Longest Category 5 hurricane: Hurricane San Curiaco, August, 1899 (28 days)

Most tornadoes: Hurricane Frances (2004), which produced 123.

Deadliest U.S. hurricane since 1926*: Hurricane Katrina (2005) with at least 1800 casualties.

Katrina was the 6th strongest hurricane on record, at 902 mb.

Costliest U.S. hurricane since 1926*: Hurricane Katrina (2005), with estimated damage at $81 billion.

Fastest intensification: The winds of Hurricane Wilma (2005) strengthened from 150 mph to 184 mph in less than 5 hours, with an accompanying pressure drop from 954 mb to 901

In 1900, August-September, 8000 people died in Texas due to a hurricane. This was the deadliest hurricane in U.S. history.

I was living in the Keys when Wilma hit, it was not a fun time to say the least.

My dad, I miss him every day.

Well,I think I found the cure for Hurricanes,Simply spend every waking moment for ohhhh about 3 days gathering supplies,at say ,oh I dont know, about $300.00,put up with price gouging dujour(gasoline went up 30 cents in a 12 hour period, and it seems the gas stations can only get deliveries of premium grade fuel, and all other grades are out,not to mention my beer went up 3 bucks a case ,hey 15 bucks is 15 bucks)

Add in a frenzied media, and no problem, storm will turn west and you are in the clear.

BTW,anyone need any bottled water???,The beer is still mine.

Well Jenn Beth had me run by the Honda place here and well I can say they making their money on generators. A 5000 is going for $1700.00, she had checked with Lowes and thier 5500 was going for $650.00. So someone making some money.......there was a line of people there trying to purchase one, they had to fill out a credit application.................

I have 2 Pro Force 3100 models that Daps got in Baton Rouge during Katrina(Home Depot) and they only cost $350 each. They go about 4 hours to a gallon of fuel and are very easy start. If you have a PepBoys they also sell cheaper models, course now it might be to late and they will be sold out, hell you cant find a D-cell battery in my parish, had to go 30 miles yesterday for some, than I found out my pa-in-law had over 30 in his regrigerator and he lives a mile away
