I paid $2.56 a couple of days ago, so the web site is very close.
Roses, I can remember our family coming to Dallas when I was a kid, and gas was less than 20 cents. Seems like one place was selling it for 16 cents. That was in the mid to late 1960's, when Six Flags opened up, which is why we came to Dallas in the summertime, all the way from Louisiana in a car with no air conditioner that got like 12 miles per gallon.
So considering my car today gets 3x the gas mileage, we were paying like 60 cents... Then multiply that by 10x inflation since then, and we were paying LongTail's $6.00 per gallon way back in the 1960's.
Everything is relative.Last edited by TXCharlie; 04-05-06 at 01:16 AM.

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

On Saturday regular unleaded was $2.72 and this morning it is down to $2.69, but looking back at last month were still high.

If anyone lives in or near St Cloud, Minnesota you might be interested in this prepaid gas that is offered by First Fuel Banks. You can lock in a price and purchase as many gallons that you want ahead of time. They have 6 stations in and around the city of St. Cloud.
