I hate Scotch, but...
...I bought a bottle of The Macallan, 18 yr (single malt) this weekend for my hubby as an anniversary present. I literally took a sip and didn't even have to swallow it...it just kind of dissolved in my mouth. It was smooth and actually tasted good. I still don't like Scotch, but if I was forced to drink it, this is what I would choose!

You really do get what you pay for when it comes to Scotch. Almost any bottle of single malt that costs more than 50 bucks, is probably worth it. It has been my experience that the darker the scotch the smoother it will be. If you are ever in the mood to spend a bunch of money try the Johnny Walker Blue Label. I've been drinking Bowmore Darkest at 70 bucks a bottle and Bowmore Mariner at about 55 a bottle.
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it really is all about?

I like scotch myself but I only drink it once or twice a year and this one or two shots only.

Scotch is barreled in used whiskey barrels. That is my poison for sure. I love me some Gentleman Jack:

For those that are interested, the Modern Marvels show on the History Channel has a great episode on whiskey. Includes Kentucky Bourbon, Tennesse Whiskey (yes there is a difference, it involves charcoal), and Scotch Whiskey.
