Walking, jogging, running and exercise..
Jogging, running, working out on a treadmill, rowing machine, weights Etc. and other similar health fads didn't become popular until the late 60's and early 70's. I can remember when jogging and working out of any kind was a necessary evil done only by HS, college or professional athletes to get ready for an upcoming sports event.
After the big day and the event was over, so was the training till it was time to get in shape for another one.
Since WW-2 military basic and boot training has included the dreaded early morning calisthentics and 25-30 mile hikes has all been a part of getting lard butts in shape, then after completing the several week basic training period all manner of exercising was quickly discontinued, except for those in the infantry who didn't jog or run but marched in heavy combat boots.
Today, with their fancy 100 dollar plus athletic shoes, folks will go on a cruise or a vacation and take thieir daily ritual with them and would no more miss a 5:AM jog around the deck of a cruise ship or work out an hour or more in one of the several shipboard gyms than to pass up a steak dinner.
When I was a kid there was this guy in the neighborhood who was considered a nut case because he claimed he walked a mile every morning before breakfast. The guy had a heart attack and died one morning and everyone claimed it was caused by his daily walks.

To save time, I often run or speed-walk instead of just walking. It's good I can't get traffic tickets for speeding on my feet!

I enjoy running....or even a walk if I dont feel like running. Helps with stress...and as I am getting older (ahem!) it helps keep things where they should be. LOL
However, I am not soooo brainwashed....I did NOT run once while in Vegas...a whole week and NOTHING. And I ate and drank well too. Then I got sick...so just started running again. Ran tonight...felt good (even though I will be up all night coughing! LOL)Never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. I only exercise because the bad guys do also. Otherwise I would only do my routine stuff (still a workout). Besides I'm blessed with the ability to stay skinny so might as well take advantage of it

It seems we have the same metabolism. I can eat as much as I want and never gain a pound. Although I could stand to work out a bit more. All my workout consists of at the moment is a 2 mile bicycle ride and I walk all over the place at work and sometimes lift heavy boxes there.

Most women get a lot of exercise. Running there mouth, and jumping to conclusions.
