Politically not wise
That would be me. I give myself credit for wanting to be but as CB wrote it is way to much to comprehend with the time I have. I just try and surround myself with very educated people I trust that can give me the advice I need. I also credit this site and its members for furthering my knowledge. I feel there is a wealth of knowledge to be further had but members can't post their positions in political theads without being turned into a bitch fest or slammed from either side.
I mentioned this to a friend today and was told to figure out a way to solve that problem. Well I thought about it for quite a while and was unable to concieve a way to do this in a forum. I know a lot of people would like to express their position but do not wish to partake in a debate or political bashing. I would like to know why people vote the way they vote. Why do you like your candidate or party? What is it that makes you democrat, republican or whatever?
Now, how can we do this? Well here is what I would like for folks that want to participate to do. PM me with what you would like to say. I promise I won't bite. This is a learning experience for me. Long or short but make it point specific if you can. Also include whether or not you would like to have your PM posted without name. I'll start a thread and post what you like. That way you can say what you want without worry. Depending on how long you make your PM I may condense it for space.
So come on. Gimme your side. If this works out and if I can make the time I'll might try this with what campaign issues are important to all of you and how your candidate could address it.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

This is a great idea!

I've never been shy about expressing my political views. Probably this post summarizes them up best: http://officerresource.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=22 But they're also all over the forum, for better or worse.
But I suspect you might get some more members with progressive views they're willing to express via PM than one might expect just based on forum posts. Come on, fellow progressives---Lewisipso is absolutely trustworthy and genuinely open-minded. Show him your true blue colors, and let him post them anonymously so that we can all enjoy them!

Simple. What is it about either candidate or party that makes you vote for them? What does he, she or they stand for that attracts your vote?

Here is my opinion:
I am conservative for several reasons. I think people are responsible for there own actions. This is for either good behavior or bad. I don't buy into the argument that little Johnny stole a car so its his daddy's fault for not saying "I love you". Little Johnny stole it, therefore little Johnny must pay the consequences. I don't think we should be babying these people while they are in custody. I think prison should be such a living hell that people don't want to go there at all.
People are also responsible for making their way in life. It is not my problem or responibility to pay for your cadillac since you don't work. I call this the redistribution of wealth (a key Obama budget promise). You can't punish people for making money and bettering themselves then take that money the gov't just stole and give it to some person on welfare who is to lazy to work.
I believe in the 2nd amendment. I don't think Gov't has any right to tell someone they can't defend themselves... either in the home or out. I have no problem with people carrying guns. If more people did I think society would be much more polite.
I think if our country enters a conflict our military should handle that entire conflict with no intervention from our politicians. That I think is the # 1 reason why we have lost as many troops as we have. I think what the Democrats have done is treason. They should be hung for treason (aiding and abetting the enemy). 3 of my siblings have fought in this war so far, 1 is now permanently disabled. When I hear people like her and Pelosi openly celebrate that they are being killed ticks me off. Alot of people don't remember but President Roosevelt suspended "Habues Corpus (spelling?)" during WWII. People that spoke against the war (including politicians) were locked up in a mental ward. Enemy "spies" were shot. Our current enemy doesn't fight for a country and doesn't wear a uniform. Under the Geneva Convention they should be executed.
I think I have a right to do what I want on my property as long as it doesn't harm someone. I don't think the Gov't has a right to take my property or tell me what I can and can't do with it.
I think my taxes are way to high and anyone that wants to vote for Obama obviously has more money then they want so they can send the extra to me.
I am voting for McCain because I think he will cause the least amount of damage to our economy. He will hopefully not increase the size of gov't as much as Obama will. He will lower my taxes. He will support our military. He will not try and pass gun control like Obama.

As you can see PM's will be posted anonymously so feel free to send me your perspectives. This is an opportunity to present both sides of the argument. Let's have some more.

I don't belong to a party, I registerd Decline to State because I want to vote for the man not the party. True he is in the party but I want him for his stand not the party retoric. I'm voting McCain. In Obama I can't see the President of the United States who will not even salute the flag, I feel that is unamericam. Also at one of his appearances he had the Secret Service send all the cops away to another area before he got off his bus so he wouldn't be seen associating with them. I would have left permanently.
