San Diego here I come!
I will be leaving Sunday to go to the International Chiefs of Police Conference in SD. Myself and my Lt. will be accepting an award for our Dept.
My Lt. is bringing his wife so if any of you locals want to get together for beer and mayhem shoot me a PM and we will hook up.....that is if he lets me out of his sight."And don't go home, and don't go to eat, and don't play with yourself. It wouldn't look nice on my highway", Buford T. Justice

If you get lonely and you are at one of the motels near the base leave your curtains cracked open. after a short while you will get ''room service''.

I don't know if you are staying close to a trolley station, but if you are....TAKE THE TROLLEY! There is a stop right in front of the convention center, and you won't have to deal with traffic or parking.
The Gaslamp district is within walking distance, and there are some very nice restaurants in the area. There is also Horton Plaza for shopping. Seaport Village is also nearby, as is the harbor. Old Town is the original city center and has some cool little shops, restaurants and historic sites. (Sheriff's Museum! hint hint)

Well I made it back to the other side of the country!
I really enjoyed my trip and must say that San Diego is sooo much nicer than San Fran. We got the award and it was a great experience! If any of you ever get the chance to go to an IACP Conference I would highly suggest it. We met officers from South Africa, UK, and Hong Kong not to mention the numerous Canadian and US agencies that were there.
I am sad to say that I did not get to hook up with any of the locals because they had so much stuff planned for us to do. We spent 2 nights in the Old Towne area and 2 nights in the Gas Lamp district. The Old Towne area is filled with the greatest mexican resturants I have ever seen. I also made it to the Sheriff's Musuem about 10 minutes before they closed on our last day. So I got to run through and snap some pictures but it was impressive. My Lt. and his wife went and toured the USS Midway on Veterans Day and said it was an experience.
The Gas Lamp District was great! We ate and drank at some great places. The Whiskey Girl sports bar was great and there was an italian place that was awesome. I did see the Gas Lamp Strip Club but honestly I was too intoxicated to be trusted with cooking my own steak.
I will post some pictures when I get them from my Lt.'s wife. Thanks to PDawg for the great suggestions.
I do not think I will be going back to Cali because on my trip to SF I lost my Oakleys and this trip I lost my IPOD so its getting kinda expensive...
