How many presidential elections have you voted in?
I've been voting the republican ticket since 1964 when Barry Goldwater ran and lost against Lyndon Johnson.

Presidential elections since 1992.
For GHWB - Lost
Against Clinton - Lost
For GWB - Won
For GWB - Won
Against Obama - Lost
2 out of 5 ain't bad, I guess. You'll notice I voted "against" in two of those, rather than "for." Lesser of two evils those times.I'm your huckleberry...

I'm a baby, it seems
. Voted for W. Bush twice (first election I was old enough was 2000) and McCain once (though I would have voted for him in 2000 if he had gotten the pick over GWB.

I think I was too young to vote for Goldwater.
Thereafter I voted all Republican, except for one misguided vote for Ross Perot. Not that he would have made a bad president (I think he would have been a very good president) - But that took away votes from the Republican and allowed Clinton to become President - Then Perot endorsed Clinton
I learned my lesson - Now I'm one of those guys who do a straight ticket unless there's someone on the ballot who I can't stomach.

Nixon 1968 and all "R" votes from there.
What turned me from ever considering any Democrat is:
(1) the "D" congress all lined up like whores on the Capitol steps to support Bill Clinton and block his impeachment for perjury and disgracing the Office. The "R" leaders quietly told Nixon to clean out his desk.
(2) the "D" cult continues to revere both Clintons and the wet-brain "Hero of Chappaquiddik".
(3) Party loyalty is first, the Nation is simply a power conduit for the "Party". Historians may refer to issues in Russia 1917 and Germany 1933. Class hatred, divide and conquer, and re-define truth.
(4) The dopers and traitors of my generation took their wealth from our system and freeedom, took control of the "D" party, and took allegiance to dogma and heroes hostile to our Nation.
(5) Just being "fair" to the new one, wait and see. He will be tested on all fronts very soon: courage, leadership, loyalty, integrty..........the doo-doo will hit the fan very soon.
They dont train for that in law school. "Yeah just wait - we will sue you." Legal paper is important to our enemies only as it makes a better cooking fire than dried goat shit. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.-- Anonymous

I don't think so... I used to work for Ross Perot at PerotSystems. The guy doesn't kowtow to anyone, and doesn't get involved in schemes (on purpose anyway).
But he can be too trusting and loyal to people below him at times. I think the Democrats probably sold his long-time advisors a bill of goods, and he trusted his advisors. Obviously though, placing undying trust in people below him has worked for him except where politics is concerned.
Unfortunately his son runs everything now - He strikes me as a bit of an asshole, and has shipped a lot of hi-tech jobs to India, something that Ross Perot Sr would have never done.

Ross Perot wasn't wanted in that election from either side. He took 5% of the vote- which was record setting for a single 3rd party candidate. That scared the Republicans and Democrats both into conspiring to make sure another independant never made into the Presidential Debates.
Personally, I think that ought to be a crime."If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn't thinking." -Gen. George S. Patton
