Wii,
My nephews have both Playstation and Wii, Wii is a hell of a lot of fun
Playstation 3 though has a blue ray player built in for HD DVD'S (Thats worth it alone)
For you kids I would go with the Wii to keep them active and not just sitting in front of the tubeSomebody Please, what the hell is that smell?

Xbox 360.
Studies have proven the Wii is no better for kids than any other gaming system. Activity happens away from any gaming console.
That said, Xbox has a wider platform, more games, and a real internet capability.I'm your huckleberry...

Funny video. I still only have an original XBox, a Sega Genesis (I love NHL 94 on it), an original Nintendo, and an Atari 2600. And I rarely play them anymore. I suck at many of the XBox games cause the controller has 3 million buttons on it. Also, first person shooter games aren't my cup of tea. I much prefer 3rd person.
If I was getting a console now, I probably would get the Wii. It's simple, and fun. Yeah the Wii won't really give you any exercise. But the motion controller does add a new dimension to games that is very engaging. AND you can get ROCKBAND 2 for it. No matter what console you get, you have to buy that game. I thought the orig. ROCKBAND was the best game ever invented when I played it earlier in the year. Like guitar hero, but better since you can also sing or play drums. Though that game is a good way to get your neighbors to call the cops on you! It's funny how many loud party calls end up being people playing guitar hero or rockband.
But if you want awesome, realistic, HD graphics, you want the XBox360 or the PS3. And the blu-ray in the PS3 is way cool if you have a 1080p tv. I'm waiting to get blu ray until my next tv. My current hdtv is only 1080i.
But hell, most of us are cops right? We make SOOOO much money, you should just buy all three!

I have a Wii and an X Box 360.
X Box 360 - top notch graphics and a ton of games. Bad thing is I'm on my second one. The reader went bad on my first one within a year. I got a replacement plan with Best Buy and got a brand new one.
Wii - Is a lot of fun to play. More interactive and just plain fun. Depending on the game you will work up a sweat.
How old is your son? If 13 or above I'd say X Box 360. Under that I'd say Wii.

I got my son the Wii because he had the GameCube, and he can play those games on the Wii. As long as the COD and MOV games are on Wii, we are good.

I was a playstation fan for a long time, until I bought a 360. I love it and haven't had any issues with it yet (knock on wood). The game selection is fantastic and the graphics are on par with any top of the line computer system on the market today.
Plus, it's fun to play games on xbox live.
