    What food wouldn't you eat?

Food seems to be a hot topic tonight. So, what food would you NOT eat. For me, fish flavored ice cream would have to be close to top of the list.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

After expanding my culinary horizons by eating (among other things) kangaroo, turkey testicles, crickets, and fried pig ears, I don't think there's anything I won't try at least once.

I'm pretty sure I could say that I would try anything once...as long as I didn't know what it was. I would be hard pressed to enjoy human though...blech. I know I won't eat liver, it's disgusting, and I don't like over easy eggs because they're runny and slimy. Other than that, I can't think of anything I wouldn't try.

I can't eat mushrooms. The sight of them nauseates me. Smelling them will get me sick to my stomach. Don't know why.

There's stuff I don't like and avoid eating but nothing that I can't eat in a pinch if I need to besides the mushrooms.

Filipino whole eggs called "baluts", and Korean kim-chee. Both seasoned and aided by decomposition and fermentation.

Can't eat green peas. I ate some as a kid when I had the flu and threw them up. Even today, the taste gives me a gag reflex. I hate liver too. I ate it in the Army when there was nothing else to eat, but I put enough ketchup on it that all I could taste was the ketchup.

Like sgtbear111, there were several foods in SEA that I wanted no part of. More that a couple of foods there are made by letting them ferment. I ate very little there that wasn't Army issue or what I bought at the PX.

Oh man...Kim Chi?? I am half Korean and there are things that I would not eat growing up. Kim Chi was not one of them! I always try to eat some every time I get home to see the family. Depending on the variety (I don't like it all), it is delicious stuff.

No liver for me. Also, no turnip greens, or collard greens or spinach. Most people in the South can't believe I don't like greens.

Could it be that you associate all mushrooms with the psilocybin or psychedelic types and want absolutely nothing to to with them? Though the thought of eating a fungus can be revolting to some. One thing I do know is to never pick them on your own unless you really know what you are doing. Some of them things are very poisonous. Buy them in a store if you must.

I just had to go and google those. Actually I have heard of balut before. I think it was from Coast to Coast AM's Art Bell who has a Filipino wife. I am with you. Thats just nasty. I seriously doubt that the USDA would put their stamp of approval on either of those two items.

And to think that some Filipinos will eat balut as an aphrodisiac.

Be very careful on what you eat or drink when you go and visit a foreign country. Unless you are used to the cuisine.

By the same token, I will never eat any dog, cat, rat, mouse, rodent or insect if I can at all help it.

what are you talking about? Kimchi is told in hundreds of grocery stores (icluding some major chains) across the country in addition to being served in every single Korean restaurant in existence. It is a main staple dish for an entire country of a generally very healthy people, and was named as a top 5 healthy food by Men's Health (?) magazine.
