Holiday Warning

It's that time of year when people get new plasma HD tv sets, computers, game consoles and other high end electronic equipment. When you unpack everything and are throwing away the boxes don't set them out at the curb for the trash man. It's a great time of year when burglars can go shopping by driving down the street and without stopping take inventory of all the great crap you just set up.

I personally keep the boxes of high end electronics with the foam packing during the warranty period in case I have to ship them anywhere. If you must get rid of them though break them down. Whatever you can't fit inside a black plastic trash bag you should take yourself to the recycling center or trash dump.

Don't let thieves know you just boosted Best Buy and Circuit City stock prices.

I always re-use any cardboard boxes that my stuff is delivered in, as bookshelves and storage bins.

If I ever become homeless, I might even live in them!

Execellent reminder! One more reason to put all your bulky trash in front of your neighbor's house.

The last thing I bought that came in a cardboard box was a microwave oven.

The box now holds my library books.

Speaking of protecting your trash....

I always throw the dog shit I pick up in my yard on top of the trash bags in my garbage bin. I can't imagine any thief or wino or whoever is that hard up to dig through my garbage, when there is a perfectly poop free can on the other side of the alley.
