On this Christmas day . . .
It is quiet and I find myself remembering.
I remember those fellow officers we lost this year and in years past. I remember those officers lost on a sunny day in September of 2001. I remember the loss of a fellow officer on a summer day this year, killed for caring about an insane man.
I remember family members who left me, passing on to a better place. I remember standing in the snow a few years ago, weeping about a young man who felt hopelessness and hung himself in his family's garage. A kid I knew and tried to help.
For me, Christmas is a time of rememberances, candles lit for those lost. Christmas is a time of hope and wishes for a better year.
And on this Christmas day, I remember.

You walk a thin line between calm and chaos. Your devotion and caring will not be forgotten and will forever be a part of your legacy.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

Meanwhile, fishing in Russia:
"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it." -- Frederic Bastiat
"Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter." Ernest Hemingway

Amen. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.-- Anonymous
Old People, like me, may not be around to witness the destruction of our Nation. The rest of you may not survive the collapse. We all have the sworn duty to prevent it.
