unlocking phones
OK..I'm not exactly a technology wizard here. But I understand it's possible to purchase a cell phone that only works on one specific network (iPhone, for instance) and bleep blorp bloop on it a little and get it to work on another network (T-Mobile, for example). What are the pros and cons of doing this? Will the phone still work the same as it normally would? Could I still use the advantages of the iPhone on the T-Mobile network?

I have no idea how to unlock the newer phones, so I can't help you there. I have used two different unlocked phones and although they worked, they didn't work as well as they did before unlocking. Also, a buddy of mine has an unlocked iPhone (he bought it that way) and he says it really doesn't work well at all. Web browsing is limited, and messaging is really slow. HTH
