I found North Myrtle Beach to be much less crowded and nicer than Myrtle Beach. They are adjoining jurisdictions. The downside is all the tourist stuff is at least about 20 minutes away. But your time on the beach is really nice. They don't have all the huge breaking waves up there so it's not great for surfing but it's nice for the little ones.
The last time we went we rented through http://www.vrbo.com/ ... Owners can directly advertise and rent their units so you don't have the expense of a middle-man management company. Lots of great stuff there including houses.
We took the kids to the "Medieval Times" and we had a lot of fun. It's expensive but a great time. That which does not kill me, better start fucking running.

MB itself is a garish tourist trap. The beaches are crowded and not all that pleasant. I like the state park though.
I agree with the rest, go slightly to the north. You'll appreciate things more and they'll be cheaper.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

Well I work for the MBPD lol. I say if you like big crowds then go to da heart of da beach. But I dont suggest that cuz you will know atleast one person that will be arrested for your lil trip. Trust me on that. Look at places in Surfside Beach or N. Myrtle. They are a lil more cozier and away from the immature 20's crowd. Plus they both are only a few miles away from Myrtle Beach and traffic is a lot less annoying.

I've been to MB a few times now. Last time I stayed at the Monterrey Bay, at about 68th St. The beach was relatively bare at that point. Now I don't think that place has suites that accommodate 12 people. I think my favorite thing when I'm there is getting some good fresh steamed oysters. mmmmm The first time I went to MB I rode along with a buddy on the Horry Co. Police. After patrolling through Conway, that place reminded me alot of Muncie. hahahaha
