Quick question. I shined my boots to all hell. Is there any way to prevent flaking where there are creases. I was told to even use a little vaseline. any ideas?

I dont think there is a way to prevent flaking. Get some shoe trees to keep in them while you arent wearing them and that will help them keep shape with less creases. Other than that just dust off the creases.

WE cant use polish on our boots but the waterproof gel acts as a polish as well. No creases and there isnt really a way to avoid creasing.
Only time I have ever had a problem with flaking in creases is when I try to get a shine there. So my suggestion would be...don't shine there. Just polish it to a nice deep black and shine it on the toe. Well, at least we are only required to have a shine on the toe and heel of our boot.
Only a few more days till that doesn't even matter anymore :D.

Having a quality shoe is what matters first. I wear Danners and I keep them polished reguarly. Regular polishing keeps the leather supple and moist. I have had the same pair for 5 years and the creases are barely noticeable.
I recommend using kiwi parade gloss. It has silicone in it to produce a high luster but, it also acts as a waterproofing agent. I typically build up a heavy base coat and then brush it down after 10 to 15 minutes. I then take a wet cotton ball and buff it in tiny circles until it comes to a brilliant shine. If the shoe/boots are new, or you have never really polished them, I recommend putting in a movie and you should be completly done in an hour and a half. Airplane! or the Naked Gun seems to work best.
