Spare a thought
Ok, so here's whats ben happening in my state since Saturday. The worst bushfire (wildfire) in Australia's history. So far..198 dead, at least 20 townships have been nuked completely off the map..still an unknown number of persons unaccounted for. The state coroner has allowed room for up to 500 dead to be accomodated, and unfortuantly, that number may be more accurate than not.
My brother is a voluntary member of a rural fire service who went up there on the first few days. He tells me that he had on a few occasions flames leap over his truck..he and his crew were lucky to survive (more dumb luck than anything). On one accoasion his truck was completely surrounded by flames 20 meters (50-60ft) high.
Please spare a small thought for the victims and their families, as well as your emergency service brothers and sisters who have been going full tilt since Saturday. I'm heading up there tomorrow night, but not near the fire front.
**By the way, it has been identified that a number of these fires were deliberatly lit.
