My First On-Duty Injury

Well, it finally happened. I have a big knot below my knee that makes me look like I have two knees.

Only thing is, it wasn't a fight, traffic accident, or any of that stuff - It happened at the county jail while we were booking a prisoner.

At the booking counter last night, they have these damn little bar stools about 18" high, made of solid steel and bolted to the concrete floor. I was standing there waiting for them to process the booking sheet, and after they were finished, I turned to walk out the side door kinda fast because my FTO was already walking out, and ran smack dab right into one of those little things.

Damn that hurt, but it gives me a good excuse to lay in bed all day without doing any chores!

Hope you have a speedy recovery and get well soon. Cold packs and elevating the knee may help.

Hopefully your department gives you LOD sick leave, which is tax free earnings.

Actually it doesn't hurt much at all, it just looks impressive, especially since the whole thing is starting to turn blue. I could milk this baby for all it's worth if they'd let me wear shorts to work tomorrow

Many years ago, I was splitting firewood when I had about 6 too many beers. I smashed the hell out of my finger with a maul.

I have to adjust my remark I usually make for our new guys. When they go on a walking clusterfuck kick I usually remark that its "refreshing to hear the pidder padder of little feet".

In your case, its refreshing to hear the "thump thump - drag" of a walker. :-)

Maybe we need to put some good bumpers on that hoveround.
