Prayers needed...
I've been up all night, sick as a dog. No sleep because I'm sick with worry.
My son is going in for surgery at 9:30 this morning and I can't help but be nervous.
He's got a severe scaphoid fracture of the wrist, which orginally showed as a sprain a few months ago. He has reinjured it numerous times at his hockey games and the bone has now started to deteriorate, which has left a hole that will need to be filled.
The doc will go into my son's hip and take some bone and graft it into his hand before placing either a pin or screw to keep everything in place.
If you have a minute, please say a prayer for Mikey that everything goes ok. I know that's all I've been doing...
Thanks.
Kate

Absolutely. Prayer sent. Tell your kid not to worry!! And tell him you will laugh at the funny stuff he will say when he wakes up!! When I had surgery 5 months ago , I woke up and thought I was in a severe car accident, I kept asking everyone how my car was and how the other people were!! Then I said I thought I owned a taco bell!!
Your son will be ok!! God bless!

Prayer on its way as soon as I get off work and head to sleep. Things will be ok, we are here if you need to talk.
Being the best is not what always counts. What counts is always trying your best.
Remember who you are, and where you came from. That way you never get a big head.
May those that lost their lives in 9-11 RIP, for the things you did not many could do. You left so many behind so that you could save so few. For now we stand strong as one, and will not look back till the fight is done. (me)

Keeping your son in my prayers, Katey.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.
A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and good thoughts.
Mikey is doing fine - groggy, but ok. Other than being queasy from the anesthesia, he's ok. He was flirting with the nurses the entire time, even as they were taking him back to the O/R.
He definitely was braver than I was. As soon as they wheeled him through the doors, the tears started to roll.
Hours and hours later, the doc came out and said the surgery was a huge success. The graft went went well and the pin is in place. He'll wear a 1/2 cast for one week, then he'll get a full cast which will stay on for 6 weeks.
Again, thanks so much for your prayers. He's napping, and I think I should do the same.

Awesome. yeah when I had knee surgery in 01 thats what my mom remembered to was the flirting I was doing with the nurses. Hey it kept me thinking about good stuff instead of getting sliced open.

I'll continue to keep your son in my prayers that he'll have a smooth recovery. I'm glad to hear the surgery was a success and Ii'm sure he is thrilled that he'll have the cast off before summer. Seven weeks is not to bad but it's long enough.
