Have extra books and need extra cash?

Our local book store (Powell's...the best book store in the world, by the way), is now doing online buying. If you have some extra books laying around and would like to get rid of them for a little extra cash, you can do so at Powell's Books - Used, New, and Out of Print. Just click on the "Sell Us Your Books" tab at the top of the page. You can put in the ISBN number and they'll tell you how much they'll give you for it (or if they'll even take it). They have the option of using the credit in their store (online of course if you're out of the area) or sending you the money via PayPal.

Heck yea! I read a lot and I have a butt load of books cluttering up my bedroom. I have even considered putting a "Book Box" in the squad room. Let people pick some out or drop some off. Kind of an informal PD library.

Thanks for the info, I have about 9 boxes of books stored in the basement. I'm an avid reader and hate to just toss a book away, so I end up with boxes and boxes of books.

My dad, I miss him every day.

I doubt they'd be interested in any of the books I have, but I'll give it a shot. Most of them are by Robert Parker. They keep me interested and have some good humor in them.

I like to read too, when I was working I would leave the books in the locker room after I was done with them. Then after a while I would bag them up and take them to the senior center or nursing home. Sometimes the libraries will take them for their book sales. You can also try to sell the books either on ebay, amazon or half.com. I believe Amazon and Half.com do not charge listing fees for books, only fees when the book sells.

Powell's sells books on Amazon, I knew the name sounded familiar, I have bought books from them.

I love reading also. I usually never get rid of books though. I keep them and then reread them a couple of years later.

Yep, you can spend a full day in their main store in Portland. It's quite a place.

Strand, now that is a Book Store! I have not been there in years, probably since when I went to Baruch. Not sure if it is still there but there was also a huge Barnes and Noble wharehouse a few blocks up, mostly textbooks though. (I know the area has changed a bit, built up and nicer stores, probably thank the farmers market for bringing business in)

I try to stay out of bookstores, I am like a kid in the candy store. I have so many here to read, keep saying I won't buy anymore until I read them all. Yesterday I bought two online to add to the pile.

I didn't know about the BN warehouse, but The Strand is incredible.

I'm the same way with books. I ordered 4 from irishmick's link a couple of days ago - thanks again irishmick.
