If a hippie hollers in the woods and there are no liberals around to hear, does it make a sound?

We had two old willow trees that a contractor cut down because they were diseased. They were about 80-90 yoa. For weeks afterwards the letters to the editor in the local rag were all about how people could hear the trees' mournful wail and tearfull cries. WHAT A CROCK-O-SHIT!

CTR takes note. "This is most likely what happens when some people smoke way too much marijuana, most likely laced with some type of hallucinogenic drug. They go absolutely wacko." CTR wants no part of this activity.
The bad part about this is the liberals will actually listen to these nut-jobs, and try to pass laws relating to such interests. Sometimes succeeding. Who knows, they probably smoked the stuff themselves.
Flipping Morons, indeed.

I found this video particularly amusing, when I thought back to an incident I dealt with a couple of years ago. There was an old oak (which Louisiana tends to have quite a few of), which was literally dying off and falling down in sections over a State highway. Three times in a row, we'd had that road closed because of large branches coming down across the roadway. So large were they, in fact, that they required the use of heavy equipment to move, even when cut up. The tree was about a mile from a school, and its branches canopied completely across the roadway.
I wound up posted there with a downed branch for over four hours one day, and asked the question of one of the Transportation Department supervisors, "When are you guys going to just remove this tree before it falls on a school bus?"
This guy's answer astounded me. "I don't feel like going to jail over it. These old oaks are protected under State law, and neither you nor I could pay the fine for cutting it. Trust me."
While we were there, a member of some historical tree society showed up, making sure that no one crapped too close to the precious (dying) tree.
So, as far as I know, that damned thing still hangs over the roadway, just waiting for a victim or victims to drive under it in a good windstorm and get turned into mashed potatos.
