Academy Experience
It feels good to be home again...I just finished my three week period at the SCCJA academy for Basic Jail and it was a long three weeks. Now next year Imma have to do 9 weeks when I try out for patrol. the food was straight until I ate their damn fish sammich. I never thought I could crap soo much in my life lol. I was bored as shit tho especially in learning law that pertains to the jail. OMG I was surprised that police have 4 straight weeks of that down here before they do anything else. Hows was everyone else academy experience?

Ours is over 900 hours. Usually from can see to can't see and sometimes till 0100 or so (then back at 0500). PT everyday and book work. If you fail any portion you are out on your ass.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Our academy is 6 months long...M-S (0700-0500 or so...depending on what fun we were having that day). Then onto 4 months of FTO training. Joy. Not that bad...academy was easy...FTO was frustrating at times but I survived.
