Lactose Intolerant
Anyone else deal with this lovely nuisance?
I drank a malt tonight and completely didn't think about it and forgot my tablets I take before eating it so I don't get sick. I'm paying the price now.
There’s a promise I need you to make
While I’m gone you take care of the love
And I’ll deal with the hate.
Don’t worry about me; I’ll be all right
Just care for your children and sleep tight
I’ll keep you safe on my watch tonight

My mom had a heck of a case....so everywhere she went, a family member would yell at her to take her pills. She loved pizza, too.
I couldn't go a day without a glass of milk or a dish of ice cream so I am very lucky.

When I want revenge on someone that I'm going to be in close quarters with, I have onions in my meal with a nice glass of milk as a chaser. Crude but effective.

My wife gets stinky and noisy without her Lactaid.
She's all but given up drinking milk. The only dairy product she'll eat or drink on a daily basis is cheese - She has a cheese omlet every morning. For some reason, cheese doesn't affect her nearly as much.

Most grocery chains sell lactose-free milk.
I had a problem with regular milk (best laxative I've ever had)
(couldn't eat cereal, or anything I needed tot put milk in) until my son brought me a half-gallon of the lactose-free stuff to try right after I had by-pass surgery in April.
Did the trick, and it's almost as good as the regular milk. I can't really tell the difference in taste now that I've been drinking it for a while.

I can't drink milk without bombing the whole house for hours.
Cheese and other dairy doesn't affect me though.
If timed right, I can drink a glass of milk before bed and wake my wife up in the middle of the night with the effects.

Autumn, it sounds like your milkshake chases all the boys from the yard.

One of my friends is lactose intolerant and she says that Breyer's lactose free ice cream is really good.

I have kiddos who are Celiac. One of them is allergic to just about everything right now food wise. Cows milk for one give her the unplesant runs. The wheat will kill her though.

Pasta, and just about any other complex carbs make me, err.... unpleasant to be around. No problem with milk, although ice cream makes my stomach cramp sometimes.

Not to take anything away from those being lactose intolerant, I have a sister-in-law that is severely allergic and has to take pills for it.
Be glad that you or your kids are not allergic to processed foods and food dyes. My wife has a cousin that is allergic and has to get all the organic stuff which is costly. Or grow it on your own. One bologna sandwich or hot dog can cause a lot of problems.
That's because the bacteria used in making cheese eats up all the lactose, which is a milk sugar.
