Electronics store
I'm looking for a decent supplier of radio and electronic components such as connectors, power supplies, antennas. computer ports like usb-serial conversion, db9 serial port ext cable, soldering iron etc. Don't think radio shack is going to cut it. Maybe someone here has helped install or purchase radio systems and knows a good supplier. Local or online would be fine. Or if any one here is a Ham operator and knows of some upcoming ham fests, that would do fine to

Mouser has about everything known to man. Their catalogs are thicker than our phone book. Reseller Ratings
I've used Cables for Less a couple times with no problems. I put a comment on one order asking them to contact me if they had a bracket to go with one part on the order, they threw it in for free. Nice prices for average quality stuff. Reseller ratings
All Electronics is a virtual junk drawer. Never know what you might find there, lady on the phone is a grump though. Reseller Ratings
Had a good experience with MPJA years ago. Good place to score a deal on special, not sure how their normal stock prices rate. Reseller Ratings

eBay is a treasure trove of electronics, cables, boards, etc.
For one-stop mail order, AlTex hands down!!! We have a location around the corner from where I work, but you can also order from their web site. Very reasonable prices:
Altex Computers and Electronics
I've also ordered from Digi-Key for years, but they have gotten a little pricey for small quantities:
DigiKey Corp. | Electronic Components Distributor | United States Home Page
Here's another local company that I used to love to spend hours in, but it's been a few years. I think they will honor telephone requests, but their stock is mostly surplus, so I don't think they have a catalog. Take a peek at their warehouse and store photos -Pure electronic porn

I've been in a few HRO's, none near here though. Great store. Bought my first handheld from them, an Icam T2H. Wasn't fancy but it was really solid
Anybody that is a ham and uses or would like to try echolink let me know. I'm building a VOIP board for my computer, will hook the base radio to that and will have my own echolink node. If anyone wants to get on and chat, pm me for the callsign.

Oh, I forgot, this is where I ordered my 2-way:
The Antenna Farm :: , Your Two Way Radio Source!
Also if you have need of some amazing little electronic 3-axis acceleration sensor boards, short range RF data transmission, and cheap, small powerful audio amplifier modules from 2 watts to 100x2 watts, this is the place. It's Sure Electronics - Typically they offer free shipping directly from China.

They also have very cheap resistors and capacitors - ex: 2,000 Metal Film restor 50-value assortment for $20
50 Value 1/4W UniOhm Metal Film Resistor 5% 2000x RoHS - eBay (item 250453438080 end time Jun-30-09 03:46:47 PDT)
I've ordered their tiny 2-watt audio amp boards for little projects like sticking it inside an external scanner speaker. The only hitch is that since they're Class D amps, they do generate enough RF to block radio signals for a radius of about 3 feet, unless they're shielded:
2 x 100 watt $50
