SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Thanks for the happy b-day. Sorry I'm late and not on as much as I used to be. I've been super busy with my side business and was on vacation over my birthday. I'm not posting anywhere near as much on here or RP anymore. Partly as I don't have as much time and partly as I have nothing to say anymore. I'm slowly acclimating myself to the fact that I'm staying here for the rest of my career and probably life. I've always liked doing real law enforcement and looked forward to getting back to it but as it appears I'm stuck with cbp and not going to be able to go anywhere else I have to resign myself that I've got to stop fighting the urge to "be all you can be" and just be happy with "being some of what you could have been"!

Glad to see you back! I hope you can find some happiness in what you're doing. I think you still have some things to say.

Well, I am happy when I'm instructing at the Range...
More importantly, while I'm depressed about how unhappy I am with my career which started out so well, I'm very happy with my personal life, my wife and my dogs and cats. I find it funny that the reason I didn't leave my job years ago to pursue a more active LE job is largely because of my wife (girlfriend at the time) not wanting to move or go anywhere. You'd think I harbor bad thoughts about her for that but ironically it's quite the opposite. I realize how lucky I was to meet her and for her to chose me as a mate and while that has caused me to not do what I had lined up for myself or wanted to do professionaly it has resulted in me having a much happier life than I could have ever imagined. So, it's all a balance and it all works itself out!Grumpy bastard sick of it all!
