I wanted to punch someone...
OK, so I finally got the insurance information for our new health insurance. They called me with the group number and ID numbers. Funny enough, I needed to fill my insulin prescription today, so off to the store I went. I gave them the info I had and they said they needed something called the BIN number (I'm assuming it's a billing identification number??). The people taking care of our insurance called the insurance company but the insurance company wouldn't give them that information. They gave them, instead, a number for the pharmacy to call. OK, so that was fixed, right? They put the group number and ID in and said that that should be enough but if they had any problems they would let me know. I told them I would wait for the prescription which was supposed to be done in an hour. So, I walk all over the store with a cranky, hasn't napped yet 2 year old for an hour. I go BACK to the pharmacy and guess what? There was a problem. Did they call me over the intercom to come fix it? No. So, they get everything they need...again. I ask them how much the co-pay will be on a bottle of insulin. It's $50. Ok, except that SAME bottle of insulin I can buy over the counter without a prescription or insurance for $23 and some change. WTF ever. So, after all of that, I tell them that's just ridiculous and I'll just buy the insulin over the counter. They send me down to the other register to get it...which is in the pharmacy like 10 feet away. THAT lady tells me, after all of this, that they're out of the insulin I need and that they "may" have some more after 3 pm. *sigh* Really?? I was SO ticked off. Unfortunately, I think they'd frown upon me beating the crap out of them.

That makes no sense at all, I would have wanted to punch someone, too.

Sorry this happened to you. That must have been very frustrating. Insurance companies just try to do whatever is most profitable and convenient for them, even if it means treating their customers unfairly.

It will be so much better when the socialized system gets here.

Sorry you had such a crappy day IM.
I have decided that workers comp may be more "fun" then insurance...(I realize that wc IS insurance but just work with me). I had knee surgery and wc didnt authorize crutches...WTF? Nothing like a drugged up, lame, leg totally numbed up (dead) girl trying to walk from the car to her apartment. THAT was fun.

I tell them to use this little test before they decide to do something. If they were to do what they're thinking about, and it became the lead story on the six o'clock news, would they be proud?
