Who's working Christmas this year?
I am. Night shift. Christmas Eve night is my Monday. I work four twelves and get four off. Last year I was on days and Christmas was my Monday. Oh well December will be a fat payday month. I'll get holiday pay for the 24th, 25th and Jan 1st. Plus my house is a two minute drive from the station so I can drop in without too much effort during my shift.
I get Thanksgiving off so it balances out.
Hey nobody forced me to be a cop.

Back during my Army days I sent some time at Ft. Polk outside of Shreveport. I remember godawful heat, humidity, mud, non-stop rain and mosquitoes. The mud was really something. Thick - and as strong as industrial glue. I walked into some mud. Sunk up to my knees and it took five guys to pull me out. Unreal.
The city where I work can be the same way incidentally.

If I remember right we (AAFES) will be working Christmas Eve but they will let us off early to be with our families. Christmas Day is a federal holiday for us and all non-essential personnel will not be working. Of course, that won't stop them from asking for volunteers, like they seem to do for every other holiday that comes around.
God Bless those in LE that have to work through the holidays as crime never sleeps, it just dozes. I hope that you all will be safe in all you do and no injuries will befall you.
God Bless those in the Medical profession so that they may strive to care for those that need it.
God Bless those in the US Military, especially those that are abroad and fighting for our freedom. For they never get a day off except for occasional leave. As the enemy never sleeps either.

I WISH I was working... Christmas or any of the holidays. In their infinite wisdom, the powers that be decided they could save money by simply not scheduling ANYONE on the holidays! LOL! "Turn it over to the State Police"... Oh well, at least I have almost the whole month of December off! LOL!

Christmas day is my Monday, but I'll be on a new shift rotation. I work noon to ten pm on Christmas and the next day. Then evenings the next two nights. It's by far my favorite shift.

I'm working that night. If I wasn't I would probably still volunteer to work it. I usually try to work the holidays and let the guys with kids/family have it off.

Yep.
That is what I used to do. I would sign up for the holidays and weekend nights and when I got to pick shifts, I volunteered for the weekend shifts, days or PMs. I hate graveyards though... I did a stretch once when we were short and did 6 days straight on graves, 1 day off, then another 5 straight, then 3 off. By the second stretch... I was hallucinating something fierce.
People would materialize out of thin air, fence posts morph into monsters, etc. I had to call it before I became a danger.
In any event, I'm working this week but not settled yet for next month. Might have to cover on Christmas Day, day watch, but that's okay as long as I get Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.Nothing clever here

I'm stuck working this year. I can't complain I've had the last four off and I get Thanksgiving off too.

I'll be out there too on Christmas Eve, overnights... The good thing is I doubt if I see another vehicle moving for 3-4 hours of it. Then overnight on Christmas I should be on an OT shift .
Our Holiday pay (triple) is good for Thanksgiving, the day after, two days of Christmas, and new years. The extra pay is the only good thing about this time of year.
I love the money...
