    Hot toddy...

Tea, honey, a bit of lemon juice, and a generous serving of whiskey.

If you do it right -- even if it doesn't make you better, you won't care that you're sick!

Gargle with salt water helps but it's temporary.

Antibotics - May be Strep Throat.

I'd go see a doctor. They can do a quick swab test to see if it has staph bacteria in it.

    Are you running a fever?

Spiciest food you can stand normally. Works for me anyhow while sugary stuff makes it worse.

Sorry you're ill! Cough drops help when I have a sore throat. You should also see a doctor if lasts more than another day or two more, though, just in case it's bacterial (and thus curable with antibiotics) rather than viral.

Load up on Vitamin C and Zinc.

And as much as it's not condoned, if you smoke or can stomach it, menthol cigarettes. When I get one I bum a couple off of a buddy.

I second both the salt water gargle and the Chloraseptic. Alternately, you can gargle with Listerine and let just a tiny bit trickle down your throat. It's horrible, but even the germs and whatnot can't stand it.

Yeah, that Chloroseptic stuff does help, if you spray it on every 5 seconds, which is slightly over the reccomended dose

Hit yourself in the foot with a hammer. You will no longer care that you have a sore throat.

Cepacol throat lozenges. I've got a wicked sore throat from being outside in the 5-20 windchills today on SWAT training, so I've been throwing those down since I got home. Interesting that whisky helps...I'll have to try that tonight, too.

Chloraseptic, Halls, menthol cigs, whiskey, and gargling with saltwater all work in various amounts depending on your body's reaction.

Me? I use tequila. After a few shots, you won't remember anything anyway.

See a doctor get some amoxicillin from canada if you cant see a doctor!
Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!

Done it and tried everything but going and I saw a doc today.

    Viral

still as bad as the first day but I found extremely hot tea/coffee takes it down a notch for about 2 hours, so I will keep repeating that

Chloreseptic is nasty, did try it, made the tongue numb, so I tried taking it like a shot and giving a gargle but that did nothing too.

    I flipiin give up

Ok, what I do when it's really bad is get some lemon juice, salt, and honey & heat it all up together. Add some water to dilute. Then gargle and sip that. I rather like the taste, but I'm strange and it does help the throat. It's also great when you've got a cold.
