The manliest firearms
10 Manliest Firearms: by Michael Z. Williamson, SMLE, Mosin-Nagant M44, Swiss K31 Carbine, Remington 870
THE TEN MANLIEST FIREARMS
by Guest Author, Crazy Einar
This was a hard piece to write, because guns by definition are manly, except for Berettas, gold-plated TEC9s, .25 caliber pistols or anything made by the French. To simplify things, I have limited it to modern cartridge firearms a man might, can, and should collect and shoot. There are certainly other manly weapons, and you may have a different list. As long as the list contains nothing French, gold-plated, .25 or with pearl grips (which Patton correctly observed are the mark of a New Orleans pimp), it is a good list.

The comments were in error - What "Uncle Ronnie" really did was tell LAPD SWAT that if they wanted their rifle back, they would have to come to Tennessee and get it, after California banned .50 cal's.
He said that California's law was unconstitutional, and therefore illegal - And he was sworn not to send guns to criminals

Excellent write up there.

Definitely - It's a great article!
Here's Ronnie Barrett's two letters, one before he decided what to do with LAPD's rifle, and the second one where he tells everyone that he told the LAPD that they would have to come get it. It used to be posted on his web site, but he's in a fight with Hawaii now:
Letter from Barrett firearms to LAPD
An Open Letter From Ronnie Barrett (Barrett 50 caliber)
Many of you have inquired as to the outcome of the letter I wrote to Police Chief Bratten of the LAPD. Unfortunately, the chief's position did not change. He continued to use his officers in the same deceptive practices formerly utilized with the city council. These few officers testifying in Sacramento ultimately contributed to the unconstitutional AB50 law being passed.
It saddened me to have to tell members of the LAPD SWAT team that they would have to send someone for their rifle, because I refused to assist anyone or any organization that is in violation of the United States Constitution. In turn, the department arranged to pick up their un-serviced rifle.
Barrett cannot legally sell any of its products to lawbreakers. Therefore, since California's passing of AB50, the state is not in compliance with the US Constitution's 2nd and 14th Amendments, and we will not sell nor service any of our products to any government agency of the State of California.

Nice going Bratton, and right on Barrett. Does anybody get the feeling that Bratton was just a puppet hired on by the liberals down there in Los Angeles?

Good list but short. I'll restrict my whining to missing the M-1 Garand, Boer War 7mm Mausers, or the lever action Winchester 1886 in 45-90, and the Win. 1895 in 405 Winchester.

Any list that doesn't include the M1 Garand, the BAR and the '03 Springfield just doesn't ring true as far as manliest.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
