Officers on facebook/tweeter

Hi All, I just wanted to ask, I don't think its a good idea for Law Enforcement officers using FaceBook/ Tweeter to be seen in their uniform or any kind of photos for that fact, that will show the department. Reason I say this, IS, I was looking around on facebook, there was an officer who someone posted "Remember when you got me drunk, and I was a minor" if you go to facebook and see what I mean, you can get in big trouble..

I might be wrong, but I seen stories were people was fired "Not Law Enforcement" but I would hate to see this happen..

Some are not the brightest bulbs shining. There has been instances where cops got jammed up because of what they posted on their Face Book or My Space pages. Even at the strictest privacy settings it is possible for your info to leak, so if you chose to have one of those pages keep that in mind before posting something that may cost you your job or befriending someone who may write something stupid. I do not think Twitter is all that bad, unless of course you post links to more info.

It sounds like you are offering an opinion rather than asking a question.

We can't go to facebook and see what you mean because there is no way to search for a comment.

If you would like to PM a staff member, one of us would gladly send a message to the officer to make sure he cleans up his posts.

My lake neighbors have parties during the summer at which thong-clad women abound. I once stopped by home in uniform and the throngs of thongs (heh I just came up with that

) surrounded me, asking for photos with them, wanting to be cuffed for pics. Two of them struck suggestive poses with me in between, and a moment later a camera emerged. I stopped that nonsense right then. No way am I going to get photographed in uniform engaged in ANYthing that may embarass me or my dept.

There isn't anything on my facebook page that indicates where I work, or really even what I do. No pictures or written posts.

I see alot of SMART Law Enforcement officers don't post pics, but I see some who do, and what they say makes the department look bad.. now don't get me wrong, Im not out to get anyone into trouble, but I feel this makes cops look bad...
