Yeah , that is about what we're going to look like when we get hit by a hurricane.

I typed in my ZIP code. The result was pretty shocking. This thing is horrible. I don't think the Gulf will be the same as it was pre-spill in my lifetime. The lost recreation and seafood is nothing compared to the lost way of life for those that make their living from the Gulf.

Nature may heal quickly but this isnt your run of the mill issue. For us not to loose major commerce and employers BP will have to exhibit a lot of integrity concerning this. They will need to open their pockets to legitimate issues of reimbursement and clean up efforts. I don't know personally but was informed that Exxon basically screwed over Alaska regarding such matters. They made the same statements that are being made here but, allegedly, no one, federal or otherwise, pushed the issue and forced them to do the right thing. Again I do not know this personally.
Yes I know that disasters such as this are the price of doing business. We are an oil consuming nation. Someone has to pay the price. This time it was us. I just hope that BP handles this appropriately. It seems as if they are already paying the price for not being prepared nor heeding warning signs of imminent disaster.Do not war for peace. Just for the record, the fine folks at b.p. have filed a request that all law suits be moved to Texas and have even put in a request for which judge they want to hear them.

Once they spray the oil-eating bacteria on it, I think you're right. Nothing bio-degradable lasts long in Louisiana in the Summer time.
However, It may take a lot of re-stocking of the oyster beds, etc, I'm afraid. I think they're looking at 2-5 years for things to return to normal.

I was doing some reading yesterday and the Dutch had offered assistance right from the beginning with experts and specialized equipement but were told no thanks by the Feds. They're now sending specialized booms that can be used to retrieve the oil, it appears that the right people were not brought in from the start, who's fault, probably Bush.
