Here Is Your Sign
One of my officers worked a motor vehicle crash last Saturday where a vehicle went out of control off road at a high rate of speed. No severe injuries but he noticed damages on the vehicle on the passenger side that he felt certain had to have been inflicted by a sign. Several officers and some deputies from Lew and CB's agency looked for the sign with no luck. My officer found a hole on the edge of the road where he believed the sign was located. His shift and the deputies told him that he was full of shit that there was no sign. The officer, when he got back to the PD , zoomed in on the area using Google Earth and did find that at one time there was a 45 mph speed limit in that area but it is not there anymore. He went back to the area in the daylight but still could not locate the sign.
Wednesday Jack*In*The*Box calls the police. One of our Sergeants goes to take a complaint from the manager. Turns out that with all the heavy rain we have been getting lately the restaurant's roof was leaking. The manager called someone out to climb up on the roof to take a look. When the roofer climbed up on the roof he found, you guessed it , one 45 mph speed limit sign impaled in the roof. Good work! Guess his investigation (& that sign) reached new heights. Lucky for a leaking roof, probably would have bugged the heck out of him for a time, not to mention getting in trouble for not turning his reports in in a timely manner, like they do in here.
