Back from Alaska
Got back from Alaska Sat PM. It was a great triip - such vastness - and SNOW this time of the year. It was cool for us southern folks, but seemed to be normal fo them. Alasken Beer is GREAT, expecially their summer ale. After 7 days cruising, (Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway, Juneau, Hoonah, etc) we got off at Seward and spent the day (again) cruising on Keini Fjords and then on to Anchorage. Spent the night and then took the Train and overnighted at Talkeetna. Next morning, train again to Denali Park. The place was awsome, even if it rained most of the time. Not a downpour, but light drizzle on and off. The last two nights were in Fairbanks. I would recommend the trip to anyone. As soon as I get to download some pictures, I'll post a few.
I specially liked their BEER (Alasken) The food is just like the lower 48, but EXPENSIVE. Never paid $10.00 for an ole hamburger. Lot of moose and raindeer sausage and of course, fish. But, its a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live where it gets to minus 50 degrees in the winter and it stays dark most of the time (in winter). I can just imagine living out in the sticks and my wife tellling me to "hook up the dog team and go to the store for milk (@$5.00 per gal) and some bread; and don't take all week."Last edited by bayern; 07-21-10 at 08:10 AM. -50 and darkness? Right about now that sounds pretty great. Huh, cheap flights to Alaska in the fall for some reason.
Gotta find out more about moose steaks before I book a trip though.
Looking forward to the pictures

Always look on the bright side of life (or cold dark months in Alaska)
