That makes me really sad, but it also stirs up some anger and frustration. A whole Police Department just ceases to exist because it was cheaper to outsource? I know most of the officers will get jobs with other agencies (including the S.O. that's taking over), but the PD is just gone...
Why not just allow the whole damn city to become unincorporated and do away with all the local services and political positions? If you don't need a P.D, why the hell do you need a mayor or council members? Let the county take the whole ball of wax and save some real money.

It stirs up anger in me too because there is a local PD that the residents think is too large and it has less than 10 officers. They whine in an online forum about every little thing, from officers sitting outside the county line to being stopped for speeding.
I just hope all that whining doesn't result in the PD being shut down.

From what I have read, the problem with Maywood, California PD is they have been saddled with lots of problems with corruption over the years. They have also hired some personnel whom otherwise could not get jobs with other agencies and probably for a good reason. Their city council is also quite corrupt with many of it's members that should belong in jail.
Sadly, this is probably the best thing to happen for them. Let the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept take over, and the city to become unincorporated. Maywood PD will go the way like Compton PD did in 2000. Hopefully LASD will be able to absorb the officers, at least the good ones anyway. Originally Posted by Aegis

For those who might not know, Maywood is a small city of 30,000 people near the center of Los Angeles and ironically 10 miles from Compton.
Choose The Right. When you're doing whats right, then you have nothing to worry about.
