The story of Stormy....the kitty rescue

For the non squirrels...


So it was a boring and rainy shift when I get a call of a cat stuck in a storm drain. I get there and sure enough I can here it meowing loudly but can't see it. Then I see something roll out of a drain and into the water. I thought it was a rat but then realized it was a really small kitten.

Well I crawl down the manhole and scoop it up out of the water. It was very small and still had it's eyes closed. I hand it up to another Officer and check for more kittens. I didn't hear or see any others. The other Officer wraps it up in a towel and I take it to the emergency vet service. They said it was about a week old. They said it seemed to be in pretty good shape other than wet.

Fortunately an employee at the vet said she'd foster the kitten and care for it. The other Officer on scene said she'd adopt the kitten. Turned out well for the kitten now named Stormy. I'm glad I live in the place I work because I needed a uniform change ASAP.
