On November 17th, 2010 Interdiction Officer John Taylor was shot during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was doing what he does best by continuing his relentless pursuit of criminal activity.

For those of you not familiar with this, he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and the dispatcher heard the wrong plate number (even though watching the video shows that he gave the real plate number very clearly and slowly) so he never knew that this vehicle was stolen from New Jersey. Just ten seconds after his initial approach, he was shot at five times being struck four of those times. One went in and through his neck, one hit his vest and was stopped, one hit his wrist on his gun hand completely shattering it and the other struck him just above his waist going into his intestines. After a long recovery, he is doing very well and the only issue he has right now is his wrist. He is actually back at work (light-duty) and chomping at the bit to go back to the interstate to do what he loves to do.

It brings us to this. John is a very active runner and health nut. So his former interstate partner (who left to go the local sheriff's office) Deputy Joe Puhak and Roanoke Rapids Master Officer Mike Moseley (also health nuts and runners) decided to put on this event to help raise money for his recovery and expenses that he has undertaken as a result of this shooting. We are looking for runners, volunteers, sponsors, donations (money/items) and supporters. I have joined in to help with technical stuff such as setting up a facebook page and other technical stuff.

If you are local we would love for you to come and join us in this run and if your not then go to the facebook page and support us by liking the page. If you know any business that would be willing to sponsor us would be awesome too. Any questions can be PM'd to me here or you can email to run2recover@hotmail.com.
