I have a friend who worked (recently) across the street from the reactor. The site is open to employees only. He has pics of the Sarcophagus from his office window.

Yes, he's already hit his lifetime radiation exposure limit.

Why would anyone do that job?

That is a guaranteed death sentence.

I'd volunteer to work in Iraq and or Afghanistan while wearing a poster that said "Jewish" with an arrow pointing at me well before I'd take a job there.
