One woman stated on FB: Why is the crime for shooting a LEO worse than a regular person? She was refering to Hollingsworth after he was found guilty of capital murder. I figure y'all could come up with some very interesting responses.

Perhaps a better question would be, "Why aren't ALL 1st degree murders a capital offense"?

Even in Texas, murder is not a death penality unless there's some sort of enhancement to make it "worse than a murder" (like committing another felony at the same time, or killing a cop, a senior citizen, or a child).

Because the law enforcement officer voluntarily puts himself between the danger and the rest of society.

For damn little money & less general appreciation.

Also because the LEO is the direct embodiment of the executive power of the State and society.

Exactly. I wonder if little miss muffet would breech a door of a darkened motel room, run in and take a guy into custody she already knows for a fact has a gun and is prepared to use it.
