Help Disneyworld
I am looking to take a trip to DisneyWorld with the wife and kids. I am looking for any advice, pointers, deals from those of you that have already gone.

I haven't been to DisneyWorld, but I have been to Disneyland, and based on that I'd like to recommend going on the "It's a Small World" ride as often as possible!

Just some more info. I would rather go in the "off season". I have no problem pulling the kids from school for a week to go.

The kids will enjoy The Magic Kingdom.
Adults generally enjoy Epcot more.
Epcot serves beer.
Fastpass is your friend.
If your kids are little, keep in mind there will be a lot of standing around and even more walking; a stroller is your friend.
Some kids will not like seeing Mickey as a 6 foot tall giant rat who does not talk.
I don't know if they were having an issue while I was there last time, but the water in the fountains at Magic Kingdom tasted horrible. Bottled water costs like $2 each. You can bring your own. Epcot's water fountains tasted fine.
Some things, like Soarin' in Epcot, only start up every couple of hours and the ride itself takes something like 45 minutes. Something to keep in mind for scheduling.
They brought Captain EO back after Michael Jackson died. Take that as you will.
Mission Space will make a LOT of people motion sick, including yours truly. If you're prone to it, SERIOUSLY take the less intense version that doesn't include the centrifuge. If you're prone to claustrophobia, avoid it altogether.
Still love Spaceship Earth, even after 20 years. Same for the Haunted Mansion.
The Test Track is fun but the urge to actually steer can be maddening.
The Universe of Energy has life sized animatronic dinosaurs and Ellen DeGeneres.
AAA offers discounts, totally worth it.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

Couldn't agree with Ducky more. The other two parks are nice, but there is not as much to do at those parks. The animal kingdom has a kids area, and quite a few animals, but the parks that Ducky mentioned are probably the best choices for younger kids.

I'm actually going this June. I don't know the dates offered, but we got a deal where kids (below 12) got to be free. I'd have to talk to my sister in-law to find out more info. I'm pretty sure it was just off of their website.
And I've heard the same info as ducky posted. I'm getting a stroller, even though my kids are 5 and 7. They won't be in it much, but they've gotten too big to carry.
Fastpass is also worth it.
It costs a bit more, but if you can stay in a disney park( hotel or campground) you can just leave the car parked all week, never have to move it.
Buy a meal plan before you go. It's an investment just like the park tickets. I don't want to be carrying enough cash around to eat on.

I actually really enjoyed Fort Wilderness, the Disney campground, and the tent sites are way cheaper than a hotel. And yeah, food is massively expensive, lunch for one can easily run $10 for essentially a fast food meal.
Oh, don't bother with "Disney Dollars" - a massive ripoff.
And for reference, just keep your eyes out for 'hidden mickeys' and these guys.

A couple of the guys I work with swear by the cruise. You do a few days on the ship and then a few days in the park.

No joke! I literally walked the sole off a pair I brought last time. Laces are a must, loafers will make you miserable. Your feet WILL swell, your back will hurt, your feet will divorce you, and you will learn that they don't make mousetraps big enough. Screw fashion- wear comfy clothes that don't ride up, fall down, skew sideways, and are easy enough to get in and out of the bathrooms quickly. I recommend cargo shorts as someone will have to carry all the crap, and asking the Missus to carry a purse in Disney should be an offense punishable by flogging. And not the fun kind.

Check out the resorts in the off season, not only the Disney ones. The rates are cut almost in half and this economy the really drop. Get tickets also online so you do not have to wait in line. Pick the rides you really want to go on (popular ones) and fast pass those, you have a limited amount of them. Dont rush there is time to see it all,,,,plan on spending all day in each park you do not want to miss the parades and firework shows.

Anyone know what they have for security? I had heard they had their own park police dept., but I couldn't find anything on if that was true, or private security.
