Anyone here commute by motorcycle?
Just curious. I'm a pretty active motorcyclist and live life on another forum with similar like-minded folks. I try to ride every day, weather permitting and by weather, I mean ice and snow. My co-workers at my "regular" job and LE (I'm a sworn reserve) all think I'm crazy. When it rains they tell me "don't get wet!" It's just water, people!
My wife and I moved to Michigan about 5 years ago and before that, we lived in my native Southern California (never going back there!). Needless to say, my annual mileage has gone down drastically but I try to ride as much as possible. In SoCal, I had a 120 mile round trip commute. Here it's closer to 25 but the scenery sure is nicer! Heated grips, anti-lock brakes and a heated seat (go ahead with the jokes!) make fall, winter and spring bearable. Maybe one day we'll join the rest of my family who defected to the Puget Sound area and my riding days will increase substantially.
So how about it? Any daily riders here? What's your commute like? How many miles? And most importantly, what kind of BIKE?

Yes, but I admit not as often as I should - so not daily.

Not personally, but there are several guys at my shop that ride a lot. Some really nice riding roads around my parts too.

If it was allowed on my site, I would. Year round riding is very doable here. As is, no motorcycles allowed on site.

Not daily since I've had a kid (it's hard to pick the little one on a my bike). I only live 5 miles from my work, but used to put 25-30 miles on the long way home. I ride a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Mean Streak Special Edition.

Good question, to ride in uniform or cover it up. In winter, no problem, but summer? I mean, your tooling down the strass on a nice Harly, in uniform, (out of your jusridiction) and some tourist or gang bandger thinks hyour a motorcop. See any problems???

My commute is about 25 steps out my front door to my unit. However, I do try and ride my bike as often as my schedule as I can.

I just realized I don't have a good photo of mine.
It looks exactly like this one:

I have a 96 Vulcan 750. (Yes I need a bigger bike but this one is so damn smooth I get no "buzz" or numbness at all) 35 mile trip to work one day. Its my only vehicle now so I ride no matter what. I can not say enough good things about Tourmaster gear. Even the 20 dollar rain suit has lasted for the last several months. Between that and my jacket I have never made it to work or home wet yet.
And in case anyone is wondering, I can personally attest to the fact that Danner GTX boots with all the venting in them are still water "proof" on a bike at 90 for 30-40 minutes.
