Take a vacation. Thats what I do when I get to the point of not wanting to do alot. When I come back I am itching to "play". I usually take a few days off about once every few months to relax.

Can you look into a different assignment? Even a 30 day temp somewhere else can sometimes revitalize you.
Or train a rook... Not only can their enthusiasm be contagious, but after a few weeks or months of sitting in the passenger seat, you'll be eager to go back to doing something!Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

A little competition between shift mates. See who can get the most tickets, etc. Assign points to certain types of calls/arrests/cites for a grand total competition.

We had a change of supervisors here, and that seems to have picked everyone up so far.
In the past, I've found some obscure thing that I didn't really think twice about, and turned my focus to that. I go through periods where I don't hit a thing when looking for dope, and I'd say screw it and not want to do anything at all. I started writing stuff I never used to (nothing chickenshit) and it got me back into the mode to dig for more and different things. Shifts go faster, and I found I was getting into more of the stuff I love by not looking so hard."Like" us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Offic...93147194083228

Use some of that saved leave and get away. Tell the boss you need the time to clear your head and a mental health break. If it's the courts or the system: F.I.D.O. Nothing you can do about it, book 'em and forget 'em. If you have been working 4 to 8 years, the early career burnout may be upon you, it's normal and don't take your woes too seriously. Ask a trusted co-worker how you come across, sometimes our own behavior is invisible to us.
