To Cochese and any other from the movie theatre shooting

I know from Glocktalk that cochese was on scene at the theatre shooting, and I'm not sure if we have any other brothers/sisters on here that were there.. You all know how I feel about PTSD and CISD from my previous experiences and posts here, and I am reaching out to all of you to make sure you are taking care of yourselves. It is imperative that you recognize the choke-hold that these incidents can place on your life and that it is not necessarily appropriate for you to feel you need to handle this on your own.

Please seek out your local CISD team, don't bottle this up. If there's any help I can offer, shoot me a PM and I will get you my cell. I'm totally disconnected from this incident and somewhat disconnected from law enforcement, but I am happy to help in any way I can.

Cochese will be along shortly I'm sure. I met up with him onscene during a lull, and he was in good spirits. We arrived at roughly the same time, but he was immediately assigned to victim triage due to his medical experience. I will say that he is a true hero who was elbow deep as it were in the trauma and injuries onscene. God bless him and others who helped treat the wounded, both of GSWs and shotgun blasts.

I jumped onto this thread at 0200 to comment right as a fucking tone alert dropped for my district. I acquired a DV stabbing so here I am at 0930. :D

It was a total shit show. 18 minute code run at 120 MPH. Normally a 34 minute drive.

Walked right into pandemonium. After I played with a bunch of shot up folks for 45 minutes and ruined my trousers, 121 and I teamed up with our respective K9 handlers and searched the entire effing mall. 271,000 square feet or some such nonsense.

Suffice it to say, this was the worst I've ever been on. Beat Katrina by a long shot.

121, lets grab a beer soon.

You've both been through a lot, make sure you have that beer.

Crisis mode brings out the worst in the untrained, inexperienced, and/or emotionally unprepared. For those who dedicate themselves to being ready should the time come, it galvanizes them, sets them on course, keeps them focused on results, and enables them to become a driven and effective team member, a warrior, a leader. While I believe that truly nothing can absolutely prepare a person to face the gut-wrenching shock of such mindless, unleashed evil, I am heartened by the reports I've read of the emergency response to this incident and the accounts that I have read here. For what you and your fellow officers did the word "Hero" does not come close to describing it. I have been listening to the radio traffic from y'all's response and what I hear is true professionals rising up and getting the job done. In a time where it seams that the media is focusing on the corrupt and criminals in our ranks, the actions of the professionals who responded to this tragedy show the true caliber of those in this profession.

As people ran from the scene(quite rightly) you ran towards it.
Sometimes in the cold light of day it seems difficult for our friends and family to comprehend why cops do this.
